EARTHQUAKE!

So at 4:30 ish this morning Chadwick and I both woke up to our house literally shaking. We looked at each other and both jumped out of bed to get our girls. Chadwick ran to the t.v. to see if we could figure out what it was. Chadwick thought at first it was a tornado, but I knew for sure it was an earthquake. I have no why I was so sure, I mean I've never been in an earthquake and come on,an earthquake in Illinois? Yes, we are on a fault line- but it has not been active for at least a decade. It was the strangest experience, waking up to our bed shaking- jumping out of bed and realizing the whole house was shaking. Now I can say I have experienced a tornado and an earthquake! What's next... Tsunami/Hurricane while we are in Hawaii??? Let's pray not!

So... I want to know, what did you do when you woke up to your house shaking and what did you think it was? (for those readers who are in the earthquake zone)

pssh...u gave it away. I thought it was a tornado. I ran to the tv ONLY after knowing our girls would be okay...the shaking had ceased.

At first I thought I might be having a heart attack, because I felt like I was vibrating, then I heard our wall creaking and thought it might be a tornado. So I ran to the door, and opened the door to downstairs just in case, then I noticed the lack of noise (which I thought a tornado would have plenty of), so I looked outside to see the trees being still. So I went back to bed (it had stopped). Still felt some more tremors this morning though.

I am a light sleeper, but when I wake up I am always confused for some reason or another. I woke up and didn't understand what was happening then I figured it was the wind because I heard my house creaking. Then moments later a hysterical Megan was calling me so I was up.(Megan thought there was an explosion of some sort) Kyle is a deep sleeper...and now we can actually say that Kyle can sleep though an earthquake!

I thought it was someone breaking into the house, and while Larry was running to the basement I was going for the baseball bat. Don't you love being groggy at 4:30 AM?

We did not feel it at all! I have been in one earthquake once. My grandparents and I were in the West Indies. They were in their room and I was in mine. It was early morning, the sun was up. All of a sudden the earth began to shake, the pictures fell of the wall, and the lights shook off the night stand. My bed was shaking. I woke up and knew that I was alright. It was kind of exciting. My poor grandfather...his first thought was that this creepy Italian man (long story!) was breaking in to kidnap me. It was a neat experience since no one was hurt!
Glad you guys are ok and really glad to know that Wick went to watch TV in the midst of it all. :)
Ps...this weekend? Whatcha doing?
